A 3-year-old boy was killed Wednesday when he was struck by a piece of farming equipment driven by his father, the Lancaster County coroner said.
The accident occurred about 4:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Brossman Road in Ephrata Township, said Dr. Stephen Diamantoni. Authorities did not release the identities of the father or son.
The father, who didn’t know that the child was playing behind the tractor, backed up and hit the boy, Diamantoni said. The child died at the scene of his injuries and the death was ruled accidental, Diamantoni said.
