A northeast Missouri Amish boy has been hospitalized after he was seriously hurt in a farm accident.
The 911 call came in at 9 a.m. Monday.
Adair County Sheriff Robert Hardwick says the accident happened at a farm at 25550 Archer Trail in southern Adair County.
Hardwick told KTVO the 11-year-old was dragged across a pasture by a team of four horses. The horses pulled the boy into a stationary steel farm implement called a mulcher/cultipacker.
The sheriff said the boy received serious injuries to his arm, leg and groin area.
The boy was taken by ground ambulance to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The medical helicopter was unable to fly due to weather-related conditions.
A hospital spokeswoman said the boy was not yet entered into the patient directory so a condition report is unavailable at this time.
