Family and friends will say goodbye to a 16-year-old they say lost his life in a farming accident Monday in Beaufort County.

Family members say Reid Sasnett’s funeral is set for Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Washington..

Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Charlie Rose says Sasnett was found in a field with head injuries.

It happened on North Savannah Road in Belhaven just before 1:00 p.m.

Pungo Christian Academy Headmistress Marcy Morgan says Sasnett was a sophomore at the school. She said he had attended the school since he was in the fifth grade.

Sasnett was also a junior volunteer firefighter with the Pinetown Volunteer Fire Department. A flag in front of the fire department is at half-staff, while the sign says “rest in peace.”

A captain with the fire department says the teen was taken by ambulance to Vidant Beaufort Hospital where he died.

Family received friends for visitation Wednesday night at Paul Funeral Home in Washington.
